The third of Tom Le Quesne's annual cricket parties was held this weekend at the MCC (Morebath Cricket Club), a beautiful little pitch near the town of Bampton in north Devon.

The players are a mixture of sportsmen and duffers, fishers and WWF staffers, Balliol men and southern hemisphere ringers. Expert team selection ensures close results every time: this year eight runs were needed off the last two balls to win a seventy over match. Mark Lloyd, from the Anglers' Conservation Association, hit two heroic fours to give the Soldiers a one run victory.
