Here's BBC South Today's footage of the Great Brook Run, a race organised by the Tite Inn in the dying embers of 2006. 75 runners charged half a mile down the muddy banks of Chadlington's brook, before jumping in it and loping upstream back to the pub. The low branches and calf-high water dictated an unusual crouching, knees-up running style, which my brother-in-law and I had practised the day before.
You might spot me jostling for position at about 23 seconds, if you know what I look like and you're handy with the pause button.
